Delta Xi Phi
at The Ohio State University
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Your organization is smaller than most of the sororities on campus. Why Delta Xi Phi?
Our organization is small compared to some older, more traditional organizations but that is one of the things that makes us unique. Each of our chapters are small close knit groups of women who become our family away from home. D-Xi sisterhood is just that: true sisterhood. We are proud of the fact that our size and diversity brings together women who might never have met and who come to be lifelong friends. We are friends by chance, sisters by choice!
Does your sorority require sisters to live in a house?
Delta Xi Phi is different from many sororities in that sisters do not live together in a house. At OSU, Delta Xi Phi sisters live all over: on campus, off campus, and and in commuting areas around Columbus. Not having a sorority house and the many costs associated with it allows us to keep the cost of being a DXP sister very low; this is important to the DXP sisters because we never want to exclude wonderful women who could be terrific sisters because of high costs of membership due to having a house. Not having a large sorority house to fill each year also allows us to have a smaller sisterhood where all sisters know one another and have an important role in the success of the chapter; having an intimately-sized sisterhood, that is diverse and inclusive, is actually one of the things that DXP sisters are most proud of here at OSU and around the country!
How much money does membership cost and where does the money go?
The cost of dues for sisters and associate members of Delta Xi Phi are nominal in comparison with other national sororities. None of our chapters have houses which reduces the cost to each sister per quarter. The money from dues support the local chapter and the national organization; these funds provide for our sorority initiatives and programs that we sponsor. Every sister has the right to request financial records from her chapter and the National Executive Board at anytime. As a sister, you'll see first hand how your dues are used and the impact they have on the organizations and people we serve.
What about hazing?
Delta Xi Phi has a strictly zero tolerance anti-hazing policy. We have adopted a National Policy that details our position and the ramifications for violating the policy. Each sister and associate member has a copy of the policy which is reviewed at least once a year. Our organization also adheres to the guidelines set forth by the Fraternal Information & Programming Group, www.fipg.com. In the event that your have a concern or question, you may address those issues with your New Member Educator or the National Membership Coordinator.
